| Lil Wayne at the MTV Music Video Awards 2012 |
Yesterday, as I watched the 2012 Music Video Awards on MTV, I was appalled, yet not so surprised by some of the songs being sung, as well as the outfits and appearances of the musicians. Personally, as I heard Lil Wayne sing, I thought it sounded like a little kid playing with, and blowing into a microphone. In my opinion, it was not music. I know there are many people who love the artist, but I just don't think a whole lot of the guy. His appearance wasn't much better either. The bright yellow pants he had halfway on that sagged to his knees to reveal his camo looking boxers was not flattering. I just don't understand how people can enjoy his music. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to just single Lil Wayne out; he's just a popular rap artist right now and is known among pretty much everyone, whether you like his music or not. It's just shocking to me that so many people enjoy his entertainment.
The famous and well known Nicki Minaj is another big hit right now in the rap world. One thing she is highly noted for is her "unique" style. She is constantly changing her and coming up with
insane outfits. In the rap world, I've heard her be referred to as the black Lady Gaga. Now to Nicki, that may be a compliment, and although I do give her props for her individuality and creativeness, I don't quite agree with her sometimes overly revealing outfits, as well as her music, too. To me, she is another hit sensation, with a pretty face and decent voice, however, I personally don't think the music she creates is anywhere near the sound she could be displaying. She does have some good vocals, but rather instead she chooses to have her voice digitalized in her songs, making her sound robotic. It just makes me curious how people can enjoy such talent being abused.
